Interactive Web Design & Generative Art

Integrated Producer

This ambitious project aimed to raise awareness and funds for MSSNG, a collaboration between Autism Speaks, Google, and the research community to create the world’s largest genomic database on autism.

The idea was to create artwork from the very thing that holds the answers to autism: DNA. We researched a DNA sequence relevant to autism and the proper crystallisation techniques. The result was mesmerising microscopic photos and films of actual liquid DNA molecules crystallising.

The campaign comprised 10,000 unique posters, limited edition coffee table books, and an art exhibit featuring DNA art. On the interactive website, users could watch the film, take control of the microscope through an interactive experience where they could create their DNA crystal via WebGL, buy one of the 10,000 unique DNA posters, and learn more about the research.
